Vivian Gonzalez began studying the violin at age 5. At age ten Dr. Gonzalez made her solo debut with the former Philharmonic Orchestra of Florida. Her teachers include members of Miami String Quartet, Felicia Moye, Ivan Chan, and Margaret Pardee of the Juilliard School. Dr. Gonzalez is a product of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Magnet Programs.
Upon graduating from New World School of the Arts High School, Dr. Gonzalez attended the Mannes College in New York, University of Florida, Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University. Wanting to give back to the community that gave so much to her, Dr. Gonzalez became a Miami-Dade County Public School music teacher in 1999.
Dr. Gonzalez has presented on the subject of inclusion of special needs students in the music classroom at the American String Teachers Association National Conference, the National Association for Music Education National Conference, Little Kids Rock Modern Band Summit, the Florida Music Education Association State Conference, and is a guest speaker at professional developments across the U.S.
Her awards and distinctions include: White House Initiative for Excellence in Hispanic Education Spotlight, Lady Antebellum 7FOR7 winner, National Board Certified Teacher (EA/YA Music), Grammy Music Educator Award Finalist, Parent to Parent of Miami Excellence in Family Advocacy, Give a Note Foundation Music Educator Innovator Award winner, South Miami K-8 Center Teacher of the Year, FL-ASTA Private Studio Teacher of the Year.
Her degrees include: Bachelor of Music (Violin Performance), Master of Science in Music Education; Master of Arts in Education Leadership; Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction. PhD in Teaching and Learning - Special Education
